At least 29 people have died in the south and east-central United States as tornadoes and severe storms ripped homes and businesses to pieces, officials said on Sunday.
Tennessee has had nine deaths due to severe weather, all of which occurred in McNairy County, east of Memphis, county mayor Larry Smith told local broadcaster WREG on Saturday.
They join 15 other victims in the southern states of Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama, as well as those of Indiana and Illinois, in the central east of the country, and Delaware on the east coast.
