US thriller series "Shining Girls": "The Silence of the Lambs" meets "The X-Files"

A changing reality, a serial killer who doesn't seem to age and a woman fighting her trauma. The miniseries "Shining Girls" wants a lot, but does the mix of thriller, sci-fi elements and psychodrama work?

The US miniseries "Shining Girls" - available to stream on Apple TV - tells the story of Kirby Mazrachi (played by Elisabeth Moss), who years ago became the victim of a horrific crime that she barely survived. Since then, the young woman has not only suffered from severe trauma, Kirby's reality also seems to be changing continuously. If she had a cat yesterday, she has a dog today, and her mother, with whom she has no contact, suddenly lives with her. When a woman's body is found, Kirby's battle against her inner demons and the man who did this to her begins.
