Voting time for Finance Committee, LFI, and RN is underway

Eric Coquerel, the "rebellious", is favourite against Jean-Philippe Tanguy (RN), Jean-Philippe Tanguy and Veronique Louwagie, (Les Republicains LR) in ambush. The oppositions are disputing the presidency of the Finance Committee in a secret ballot vote that took place this Thursday, June 30, in the National Assembly.

This election follows a busy day at Palais-Bourbon, which was meant to create the office of the institution but also for the executive who had to face an investigation into attempted rape following a complaint filed against Damien Abad, Minister of Solidarity.

What will Emmanuel Macron do, after a long journey of international summits and Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, decide? While the question of Damien Abad's government retention is more important than ever, a reshuffle will be taking place in the near future.

The Assembly is a meeting of eight permanent committees where members meet at 10.30 am to elect their presidents. The most closely watched is the Finance committee, which has held the presidency since 2007 and was reserved for the opposition. Because it plays a strategic role in examining budgets prior to their arrival in Parliament, or bills such as the one regarding purchasing power that is expected in July. It can also access tax secret information, but not reveal it.

Negotiations have been moving smoothly for the past ten days. On Tuesday, they were accelerated by the announcement of a common candidate for the left alliance Nupes, (LFI. PS. EELV. PCF), the "rebellious Eric Coquerel", who is now the favorite. The deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis, 63 years old, was preferable to socialist Valerie Rabault. However, she was forced to quit in the face the leadership of "rebellious", which is the largest left-leaning force in the Assembly. In exchange, she was given a vice-presidency.

Eric Coquerel was elected to the Finance Committee, where he was one of the 70 members. This would be a trophy for La France Insoumise in the new Assembly. He was a person who worked on his files. He was very present, very meticulous," praises Christine Pires Beaune (his neighbor in the committee during the previous mandate). Eric Coquerel admits that Valerie Rabault (ex-general rapporteur for budget) had a greater competence.

The RN is eyeing the position and we call for the "maneuver", after the agreement between the four Nupes groups or 151 total deputies. Jean-Philippe Tanguy, the candidate for the far-right party Jean Philippippe Tanguy, called on Tuesday again to "enforce spirit of the Rules" of Assembly by giving the presidency of the Assembly to the largest opposition group - RN has 89 deputies to 75 "rebellious". The regulations state that the position must be held by an elected member from an opposition group.

Jean-Philippe Tanguy, a graduate of Sciences-Po and Essec, insists on the seriousness of his efforts to discredit his "rebellious rival" and win votes at LR. "Mr. Coquerel would like to "make" the commission "a political tool." He says that the president's role is not to be a "political agent or vigilante"

Eric Coquerel, LR and RN are being threatened by elected Macronists. The interested party shouts "fake News" and promises that he doesn't intend to use it as a political weapon against individuals.

We at LR don't hide our embarrassment. Some seem to be tempted to vote for Jean-Philippe Tanguy. Philippe Gosselin, Philippe's colleague, said that right-wing elected officials are particularly eager to vote for Veronique Louwagie as their candidate. She is a "respected personality". To avoid LFI/RN, he would like to see the majority of the voters participate in the ballot. The Macronists insist that they will honor the "tradition" and abstain, so the oppositions can organize themselves between them.

The head of each of the other commissions has been chosen by elected representatives from the majority, in particular Sacha Houlie (now Renaissance), candidate for the presidency.

Parity in these high-ranking positions should not be taken into consideration, unlike 2017 The macronists hide behind Yael BraunPivet's election as President of Assembly, the first woman to be elected, and Aurore Berge as patroness for the LREM parliamentary group.
