Walsall: Cat pierced through eye, 'lucky for being alive'

An airgun pellet that passed through a cat's eye narrowly missed his brain, according to a cat owner.

Tia Patel, Walsall, said that she believed Pablo was in a fight when he returned to Walsall on July 4th with blood on his skin.

Only after a precautionary scan was done by vets did the pellet show up.

Ms Patel stated that the episode was "very traumatizing" and that she believed Pablo would "probably lose an eye".

She described her cat, "a fighter", who was suffering because of "some cruel person who has done this intentionally".

Ms Patel stated that she would find out whether her husband's eye will need to be removed on Monday. She also said that he was fortunate to have not suffered any brain damage.

She said that it was unlikely the pellet could be removed from her client's skull.

Pablo will be forced to stay inside for the foreseeable future. Ms Patel said that this is because he was used to being outside.

The West Midlands Police was informed about the shooting and will investigate. However, Ms Patel claims that it is impossible for her to pinpoint when or whereabouts it occurred.

Pablo tried to hide his pain so she urged her to get help from other cat owners.

She stated that she had heard of other cats being shot in the vicinity with an air rifle and said "it's a shame that there are people like this out there."
