A family of German citizens, four of them children, who were visiting Gaza, have died due to an Israeli bombing at the end of October, according to German media reported this weekend.

The victims were identified as Yousef Abujadallah, his wife Ayah and their four children - the oldest, 10 years old, and the youngest, a few months old - by the newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung", which claims to have had access to the certificates of death.

Abujadallah was a doctor anesthetist and had traveled to Gaza with his family before starting a new job in Dortmund (central Germany), but the six were trapped there after the October 7 attacks.

An Israeli bombing killed them on October 25 when they were in a relative's home, in what is the first reported case of German citizens killed in Gaza.

The German prosecutor general's office, which has opened investigations into the murders of German-Israeli citizens at the hands of Hamas, confirmed to "Süddeutsche Zeitung" that it is aware of the case but noted that there are no indications that a crime has been committed that falls under its jurisdiction. jurisdiction.

The German Foreign Ministry also confirmed the death of German citizens in the Strip, but has not made an official statement on the matter.

The first German citizens were able to leave Gaza for Egypt at the beginning of November, after intense negotiations that allowed the blockade on the departure of foreign citizens through the Rafah crossing to be lifted.

Israeli attacks on Gaza have resulted in at least 17,700 confirmed Palestinian deaths since the start of the war on October 7, following a surprise attack by Hamas on Israel that caused more than 1,200 deaths in Israeli territory.
