According to a Pentagon senior official, the $400 million aid includes four Himars multi-rocket launcher systems and ammunition that have allowed Ukrainian forces to attack targets (such ammunition depots) using missiles out of reach of Russian artillery.
The official stated that Ukraine was able to strike Russian targets farther back than the front line with these Himars and disrupt Russian artillery operations. Total 12 Himars will be available to the Ukrainian army.
A thousand 155mm artillery shells from Western allies are also included in the aid package. According to a Pentagon official, these shells are "more efficient" as they have greater accuracy and range than the ones provided before.

Military experts believe that the Ukrainian army destroyed more than 12 Russian ammunition depots in the east due to the delivery of the first Himars last month.
The US official stated that "The Russians are making very limited, hard-won gains in Dombass at significant cost, and they are falling behind their targets."
