All clear: The aircraft bomb found in Geretsried in Upper Bavaria was successfully defused on Tuesday evening. There were no special incidents, said the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South. "All traffic blocks and impairments have been lifted. Residents can return to their homes."

Around 1,800 people had been evacuated because of the approximately 70-kilogram bomb from the Second World War, which had been discovered at a construction site in Geretsried's Gartenberg district (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district). After the discovery on Tuesday morning, the emergency services set up a safety radius of 300 meters in the residential area.
