But Federal Economics Minister, Peter Altmaier (CDU) uses the Corona-crisis, his industry, to implement the policies, plans, and in fact, will involve the Federal government in the next few days at the tübingen-based Biotech company Curevac, which is working on a vaccine against the Coronavirus.

This was announced by Altmaier on Monday, together with the Curevac, a majority owner, the SAP-founder Dietmar Hopp,. The Federal government is increasing the state-owned KfW-Bank group with 300 million euros and acquires, as a result, 23 percent of the shares. He wanted to get "the key industries in Germany and strengths," said Altmaier. Hopp said: "We have the same interests."

Curevac is one of several companies that are currently working under high pressure on a vaccine against the Virus. In March, the company had hit the headlines, because the American government wanted to supposedly secure the use of a potential vaccine from Curevac. Whether there actually was an offer and by the looks of it, is still unclear. Sure is only, that the owner of Hopp, if any, efforts in this direction gave a quick refusal.
