The construction industry in Germany has continued in the Corona-crisis growth. In the standstill of the economy taken in the month of April, revenues in the construction sector increased trade compared to the same month last year by 2.4 percent, as the Federal Statistical office has calculated. The number of employees in the industry increased, according to preliminary Figures, during the month by 1.0 percent. "As in March, still no discernible effects of the Corona were thus also in April 2020 pandemic on turnover and employment in the construction industry," said the Wiesbaden-based authority on Friday.
In the first four months of the current year, turnover in construction rose trades compared to the same period last year by 8.7 percent. The number of employees increased in this period by 1.9 percent. In Absolute numbers, the authority is not named. The construction industry includes the construction of buildings (construction) as well as of roads, railway lines and pipelines (civil engineering).
Low increase in housing prices
The housing construction in Germany, will continue to be more expensive, but the prices no longer increasing as sharply as in the past three years. In may 2020, the prices for the construction of conventionally built residential buildings were 3.0 percent higher than a year earlier, as the Federal Statistical office announced on Friday. However, this was the lowest increase of construction prices over the same period last year since may of 2017 with at the time, plus 2.9 percent.
In February 2020, the price increases year-on-year at 3.4 percent. In comparison, the last survey in February, the prices rose to 0.4 percent.
