Economy An incident causes a general drop in the internet in Murcia and Almería

Almost all telephone companies are having problems providing Internet service in the Murcia and Almería area, although failures have also been reported in Madrid and Barcelona, among others. At the moment, the reason for the internet crash is unknown.

The Downdetector portal, which monitors failures in application and telecommunications services, has registered spikes in complaints from users of Orange, Vodafone, Jazztel, Simyo, Movistar, Lowi, Yoigo and Másmóvil. They are located mainly in the Murcia and Almería area, although they are also registered in Granada, Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid. Reported incidences have started to drop recently.

At the moment, only Orange has openly communicated the incident -in the form of a tweet-, which it locates "in the Murcia and Almería area". "We are working to resolve an incident outside our network and we hope it will be resolved shortly," they continue.

Telefónica confirmed to EL MUNDO that, after analyzing the problem, they rule out that their network suffers any affectation. Nor have they detected an unusual increase in calls on their customer service phone. Users who perceive problems could be trying to connect with a phone whose provider has been affected by this drop and, as there is a general failure, they assume it as their own.

Meanwhile, Jazztel has responded to several users who have posted their complaints on Twitter. "We have detected a general incidence with our service in your locality", they detail in responses to people who speak of problems, again, in Murcia and Almería. Vodafone also has the incident "detected" and Simyo has reported "a local incident" outside its network, but that affects "several operators". Yoigo, for its part, has received complaints from these areas, although it has not shared whether it is a global problem.
