Ford recalls heavy-duty pickups with drive shafts that can crack

Certain F-250 Super Duty pickups manufactured between 2017 and 2022 are covered by the recall. These trucks are equipped with gasoline engines and aluminum drive shafts.

Ford states in documents that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has posted that heat and noise insulation below the body could become loosening and touch the drive shaft. If the shaft hits the ground, it can crack, leading to power loss or loss of control.

If the parking brake is not activated, trucks could roll if they fail to stop.

Dealers will inspect and repair the drive shafts, as well as attaching the insulators properly. Starting April 4, owners will receive a letter.

Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker F-150 light-duty pickups were recalled in the U.S. due to the same problem in December. These pickups are from the model years 2021 and 2022.

Ford F-Series pickup trucks have been the most popular in America for many years.
