The association Women in Equality of the province of Lugo has called for this Thursday, starting at 12:00, a demonstration before the Government Sub-delegation against the so-called 'Law of only yes is yes' and, in specifically, for the release from Villena prison, due to a reduction in his sentence, of the so-called 'portal violator'.
In statements, the president of this group, Mary Fraga, acknowledges that the release from prison of this sexual offender, whose prison sentence was reduced by two years after reviewing the sentence by the Provincial Court of Lugo for the entry into force of the ' Law of only yes is yes', has fallen in this group "like a jug of cold water".
He recalled, in this sense, that "this rapist had the women of the city and the province of Lugo frightened for a time", after raping an 18-year-old girl and trying to do it with another, in 2016.
"Now he is on the street," he said, and "there are already 32 rapists on the street" since the aforementioned law came into force, "not counting the reduction in sentences" for another "400" sexual offenders.
"They are on the street and now we have to go out in fear. Watching our backs. The law, instead of protecting us, is protecting them. It cannot be tolerated," insists Mary Fraga.
For this reason, it encourages participation in the demonstration that Women in Equality has called for tomorrow before the Government Sub-delegation, to clearly express its rejection "of this law that leaves victims and all women unprotected."
"In Lugo we are more interested in getting home safe and sound than arriving alone and drunk. We are more interested in our colleagues being able to live in peace, with their family and friends, than in the desire for leadership that leads to legislating quickly and ignoring legal reports ", added, to carry out "a law" for which "we all pay the consequences".
Obvious consequences, he explains, because "there is a new rapist on the street."
The man known as the "portal violator" of Lugo was released last Tuesday from the Villena prison in Alicante after a reduction in his two-year sentence for the application of the "only yes is yes" law and must wear a telematic bracelet that It will monitor your movements for the next eight years.
