Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center finished a $4.2 million renovation at the Cypress Springs Water Park, adding three new waterslides and a double FlowRider.
"We're always seeking new ways to improve our entertainment offerings for our guests," said Johann Krieger, the resort's general manager, in a news release. "We know that in the Orlando market, visitor expectations are high and our resort intends to not simply meet those but to exceed them."
The three slides are part of the Big Cypress tower. The Florida Free Fall is the tallest of the slides, just shy of 49 feet tall. It's the tallest AquaDrop slide at any Florida resort, according to hotel officials.
Riders drop through the slide's trapdoor into a 35-foot free-fall and flatline loop, ending in a splash below.
The new Tamiami Twister racing slides pit riders against each other as they race to the bottom in dual body flumes.
The new double FlowRider, called The Wake Zone, lets riders simulate surfing over a three-inch sheet of water over a padded surface. That attraction will be used during the 2017 FLOW Tour USA stop on May 6, the only stop in Florida, according to the hotel.
