Getting closer to the E models: Mercedes is revising the GLE

For purely electric driving, there will soon be the EQE from Mercedes in a similar size. But if you also want to drive conventionally, Mercedes gently pushes you on the electric future course with the facelift for the GLE. Among other things, with better assistance functions and more engine power.

Mercedes is refreshing its GLE SUV launched in 2018 and its coupé offshoot. Among other things, the large off-road vehicle with fully electrified drives is taking the next step in the direction of electromobility and improved driver assistance systems are making inroads.

The exterior and interior have been slightly revised. All-wheel drive (4Matic) is always on board. Depending on the model, up to 3.5 tons can be hooked. In the summer, the new models roll to the dealers.

In addition to an update for the active distance and steering assistants, Mercedes has expanded the functions of the trailer maneuvering assistant. It is now camera-based and is therefore also suitable for trailers with their own stabilization device against snaking movements. There is also a trailer route planner for navigation. Depending on the previously defined trailer, widths and heights of the passages as well as weight restrictions are taken into account.

Customers can choose between bike racks and two trailer sizes. The speed for driving with a trailer can also be adjusted.

The smart home function of the MBUX infotainment system now allows remote operation and monitoring of lighting, roller shutters and electrical appliances in your own home.

Visually, the GLE models stand out with new front bumpers and a modified radiator grille. In addition, the front and rear light graphics have been slightly modified. The GLE Coupé is now available ex works in the "AMG Line Exterior" equipment line. On the inside, the GLE has the current Mercedes steering wheel with sensor surfaces on the horizontal spokes and chrome trim on the air vents.

The range of engines consists of one petrol engine, two diesel engines and two plug-in hybrids in the power range between 270 and 380 hp. The plug-in hybrids can travel up to 105 kilometers electrically. An off-road driving program enables electric driving off-road. An 11 kW charger is standard, and a 60 kW fast charger is available for an extra charge.
