Industry The German director says that he is leaving Indra due to "pressure" in the replacement of the CEO: "It is beyond my understanding"

The one who was the only foreign independent director of Indra, the German Axel Arendt, has addressed a letter to the president, Marc Murtra, in which he attributes his resignation to "pressure" on the Appointments Committee and to the incomprehensible, in his opinion, cessation of the until now CEO of the company, Ignacio Mataix.

"In the seven months since my appointment, events have occurred that have made me doubt my position and continue to add value to the company," he said in the letter.

The first one that he mentions is that "the rationale for Mr. Mataix's departure continues to escape my comprehension in view of the excellent results obtained by the company under his leadership and the high esteem he enjoys in the markets and in the industry defending". He describes Mataix as an "excellent professional".

Mataix was pushed to dismiss last March after being the only senior manager remaining at Indra from the management team appointed at the stage of the PP Government. He was replaced last Thursday by the former head of Renault, José Vicente de los Mozos, without the share trading higher since then.

The other argument for not holding out in the position any longer is what Arendt calls "the selection process for the new CEO": Arendt was part of the Appointments Committee and, in principle, ensures that it was carried out "with the utmost rigor, speed and independence.

"However, I have found that the Appointments Committee has been pressured by an undue sense of urgency in the final phase of this selection process, which in my opinion has prevented the Committee from having sufficient time to ensure the greatest success of the decision," he maintains. Murtra has not commented so far whether he has put pressure on the Commission to urgently conclude the election process for José Vicente de los Mozos.

"For all this, I have decided to resign from my position as independent director... I wish the Company and its directors the best and the greatest success in the future," concludes his letter, published in the National Securities Market Commission when it had already market closed. The share has fallen 1.26% after communicating the Amber fund of the president of Prisa, Joseph Oughourlian, which has doubled his participation with the right to enter the board of directors.
