An independent Iranian television channel, Iran International TV, announced on Saturday the closure of its offices in London due to "threats" and that it would continue to broadcast from Washington.

"Following a significant escalation of state threats from Iran and police advice" from London, "Iran International TV has reluctantly closed its London studios" and will now broadcast from the US federal capital, it has indicated the channel in a statement.

"I can't believe we've come to this. A foreign state has caused such a significant threat to the British public on British soil that we have to move," Mahmood Enayat, the chain's CEO, said, according to The Guardian.

This comes in the wake of the anti-government protests that have been taking place in Iran since the death of Mahsa Amini.
