Monarchy Queen Letizia requests resources to investigate cancer once again: "It is a very complex royal priority"

Queen Letizia has once again reaffirmed her commitment to the fight against cancer by presiding over the presentation of the All Against Cancer initiative. In an act organized at the Royal Tapestry Factory by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), of which Felipe VI's wife is honorary president, they wanted to remember that cancer is the most important socio-sanitary problem in the world. According to statistics, one in three women and one in two men will suffer from this disease throughout their lives.

With these figures present, the Queen has claimed the need to "get this disease to recede." In addition, Doña Letizia has endorsed the great claims of patients diagnosed with this disease: "That patient care improve in all dimensions, that palliative care be implemented in an equitable way"

Doña Letizia has arrived at the event at half past ten in the morning accompanied by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, and the second vice president of Congress, Ana Pastor. The Queen was received by applause from the more than 150 guests who shared breakfast at round tables. An audience made up of politicians, athletes, businessmen and members of the association have listened with interest to the words of Doña Letizia, who once again has vindicated the need to "add individual and social commitments" to achieve "that this disease recedes".

The Queen, who is very informed about this disease, has affirmed that progress must be made in prevention, something "that has to do with the conscious decisions that we make according to the knowledge that we have." Thus, the wife of Felipe VI has concluded: "The greater knowledge of health, the better decisions we will make." Finally, Doña Letizia, who has not used any paper to pronounce her words, has concluded: "Health is a priority, physical health and mental health; and cancer is a very complex real priority."

World Cancer Day is celebrated every year on February 4, so this Thursday has been an act in advance. Last week, the Queen held a working meeting at the headquarters of the Spanish Association Against Cancer where she learned about the claims, was informed of this new initiative, declared by the Government as an Exceptional Event of Public Interest, and was updated on the latest news.
