On October 1, the fuel allowance for low income workers and heavy commuters is implemented. The 18-cent rebate at pump will end at the end of this year. Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy on Europe 1 announced that the fuel allowance will be in effect from October 1.

"We will replace the 18cs. It will be reduced to 16, 12, and 10 cents. The minister stated that although it will be done slowly, there won't any fuel discounts at the end. However, at October 1, we will make this proposal.

Bruno Le Maire added that the new allowance can be requested simply by declaring on the Directorate General Public Finance's website. He also stated that if your home or place of work is very far away, or that you are an itinerant caregiver, you will need to declare that you are a heavy roller and you will receive additional compensation.

According to the minister, the goal is to pay "almost all your additional fuel costs" due to rising oil prices. The minister also stated that while the current 18 cents per gallon rebate for fuel costs 800 million Euros per month, the new device will only cost 2 billion Euros per year.

"It just shows that we don’t want to 'no matter what. Bruno Le Maire stated that it is impossible because of the public finances. He quantified the purchasing powers measures that will be presented to the Council of Ministers Thursday afternoon at "twenty-billion euros", as opposed to the previously mentioned 25 billion.
