Paris Airport workers vote to end the strike just before the start the summer holidays

Just in time to start summer vacation. Paris airport workers voted to end the strike on Friday, July 8, after air traffic was severely disrupted for over a week, particularly last weekend.

Meeting in a general meeting at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle a few hours before the start of the summer holidays, these employees ratified an agreement providing for a general increase of 3% for all employees of Groupe ADP, manager of airport facilities, as well as a pay upgrade for some 1,800 employees whose salaries are below the 2019 reference level, according to details provided by the CGT.

On Thursday, the possibility of flight cancellations that would affect thousands of passengers was dispelled by the signing of an agreement between Groupe ADP (manager of Roissy and Orly airports) and the company's firefighters.

Last week, hundreds of flights from Roissy, France's most important airport, were cancelled due to the firefighters' strike that began June 30.

These preventive cancellations were imposed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, DGAC, in the name of safety. The reduction in available firefighters made it necessary for Roissy to be closed.

According to a spokesperson for the DGAC, this measure won't be needed on Saturday, as the summer school holidays begin.
