The former SPD party leader and federal labor minister Andrea Nahles has officially started as chairwoman of the federal employment agency in Nuremberg. The agency announced on Monday that she was responsible for the budget, IT, the Institute for Labor Market and Vocational Research and strategy. During her induction, she has had an insight into various regional directorates, employment agencies and job centers since May.
One of their goals is to turn the employment agency into a modern, digital and, above all, customer-oriented model agency. The customers should feel welcome - not as a petitioner, said Nahles of the German Press Agency. She also sees the securing of skilled workers as a priority. The 52-year-old, who was most recently President of the Federal Telecommunications Agency, will implement things in her new office that she herself initiated as a politician. For decades she had dealt with Hartz IV, the minimum wage and other urgent issues in the Bundestag and in the ministry.
