Developer Garito & Company, along with M.E. Construction, are underway building Nona Park Montessori School at 9186 Dowden Road. Rabits & Romano designed the project, which is to include 19,881 square feet and open in early August.
“Bringing a Montessori school to Lake Nona fills a void in the area’s educational needs,” stated Timothy Garito. “It was always a matter of when, not if, Lake Nona would get a Montessori School.”
Colony Northstar further tightened its grip on Central Florida’s industrial market with its $67.1 million purchase of property that commercial brokers say was among the largest industrial portfolios to hit the Orlando-area market.
The company’s latest purchase in Central Florida included four buildings — two at Beachline Distribution Centers and two at Crossroads Business Parks. The property weighs in at 946,379 square feet in Orlando’s southwest industrial corridor.
The buildings were fully leased with tenants including FedEx Smartpost, Dusobox, McKesson, Mattress One, Petco and US Mattress Depot.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Capital Markets team of Executive Managing Director Mike Davis, Senior Director Michael Lerner and Senior Director Rick Brugge represented the sellers, a state pension fund advised by Dallas-based investor L&B Realty Advisors LLP.
Colony Northstar dominated sales for Orlando's industrial market during the fourth quarter, according to a report by Cite Partners. The group purchased:
•Buildings with 222,586 square feet at 3785 Bryn Mawr Street and 4500 Seaboard Road for $10.2 million in December;
•Property with 171,427 square feet at 1925 Parks Oaks Ave., Orlando for $13.8 million in December;
•Space with 492,528 square feet at Lee Vista Business Center in Orlando for $47.9 million in October.

Expected openings include: Mezza Mediterranean Grill, March; 9 Round Kickboxing, March; Verte Chiropractic, May; Tutto Cafe, March; Popcorn Kernels Gourmet Popcorn, May; I CE NY Original Smashed and Rolled Ice Cream, May. Franklin Street’s Terrence Hart represented the landlord, a Texas group that operates the center.
O2B Kids, which provides instruction in karate, gymnastics, dance, science, technology, sports, and languages, leased 25,837 square feet at Oak Grove Shoppes at State Road 434 and Jamestown Boulevard in Altamonte Springs. CBRE Group Inc. represented Kitson & Partners real estate development company in the lease.
Margaritaville Holdings and Minto Communities plan to partner on a new active adult communities at LPGA Boulevard and Interstate 95 in Daytona Beach. Construction is underway and is slated for completion in the fall.
Guardian Men’s Health Services LLC leased 2,617 square feet at 1850 Lee Road, Winter Park. NAI Realvest represented the landlord, Orlando-based Pan Coastal LTD Partnership, which includes Uday Shenoy of Orlando and several international partners. The group leasing Betxlarge the space includes Mark Newkirk of New Jersey; John Ireland of New Jersey, and Matt Kochersperger of Ohio.
Insula Companies bought Landmark at Hailey Walk, a complex built in 1987 with 168 units in Altamonte Springs, for $18.3 million. CBRE’s Shelton Granade, Luke Wickham, and Justin Basquill represented the seller.
