Shortage of Perrier bottles on the shelves

Perrier's famous green bottles are becoming increasingly rare on supermarket shelves lately. In question: the "climatic events that have become more frequent and intense, with alternating episodes of drought and heavy rains", explains Nestlé Waters France, interviewed by Le Figaro.

The group, which operates the sparkling water brand, adds that "the current economic situation and the global context also have significant impacts in the supply chain of certain raw materials".

While Nestlé Waters France assures that it is doing everything possible to return to normal production, the company warns that Perrier bottles will remain less available "for a few more months". One of the group's main difficulties is the supply of food CO2. The latter, a derivative of the manufacture of fertilizers, is experiencing a sharp rise in price. "With the war in Ukraine, fertilizer prices skyrocketed, so manufacturers stopped producing it," explained the general manager of Sodastream, contacted by the newspaper.

“The carbonated water market had already experienced supply difficulties at the end of 2022. However, production had stabilized thereafter. This scenario will probably repeat itself, warns the CEO of Sodastream. People will be able to continue drinking sparkling water. »
