Stock exchange in Frankfurt: Dax increased after losses

At the start of the week, the Dax went up again after losses on Friday. However, the initially clear gains crumbled noticeably in the course of trading. The leading index rose by 0.34 percent to 13,619.77 points by midday, after gaining around one percent in the morning.

The MDax for medium-sized companies recently increased by 0.24 percent to 27,839.06 points. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 gained 0.54 percent.

Jochen Stanzl, analyst at broker CMC Markets, can understand the caution: "This week all eyes are on the new data on inflation in the USA. After the strong US labor market data from the USA, the US Federal Reserve should continue to work at full steam act in their bid to fight inflation and aggressively raise interest rates." That could spook investors again. US consumer prices for July are due on Wednesday.

Among the individual stocks on the German market, the utilities stood out, and they continued to be strong: Eon rose by almost three percent and RWE by around two percent. The shares of Siemens Energy attracted attention from the MDax after detailed quarterly figures and statements for the entire fiscal year 2021/22. They reduced their significant initial losses and recently only fell by 0.4 percent.
