The Benidorm Fest 2023 enters its final stretch. After the celebration of the first semifinal last Tuesday, this Thursday it will be the turn of the second qualifying phase of the program that chooses the representative of Spain in Eurovision.
To select the singer who will travel to Liverpool on May 13, the organization of the Benidorm Fest 2023 will use the same voting system that it used last year.
According to the bases of the musical event, the jury of the program has 50% of the decision to choose the winner, while the other 50% is divided between televoting (25%) and demoscopic voting (25%).
In total, 18 artists participate in this edition of the Benidorm Fest divided into nine performances in each of the semifinals. For the final on next Saturday, February 4, only four singers from each semifinal qualify and the rest of the applicants are automatically eliminated.
The operation of the voting process both in the semifinals and in the final of the Benidorm Fest 2023 is always supervised by a notary.
From the organization of the Benidorm Fest 2023 the results of the votes will be communicated as follows:
With the sum of all the points, the winner of the Benidorm Fest 2023 will be determined, who will take over from Chanel Tornero in Eurovision 2023.
The positions of this ranking will be converted into points (40, 35, 30, 28, 25, 22, 20, 15 and 13 in the case of the 1st and 2nd Semifinal; and 40, 35, 30, 28, 25, 22 , 20 and 16 in the case of the Final).
At the conclusion of the performances, the organization of the Benidorm Fest 2023 informs of the telephone numbers to call or send an SMS to each of the gala participants.
Once 30 minutes have elapsed since the announcement, no more votes will be accepted using this telematic format.
If there is a tie in the semifinals for fourth place or first place in the final, then the number of points added by the jury to break the tie will be decisive.
In the event that the telematic system fails during the voting, both in the demoscopic format and in the televoting, the vote and the decision of the jury will always prevail in each of the phases of the program.
On the other hand, if the technical failures only occur in one of the systems external to the program (poloscopic or televoting), the remote voting system that works will assume 50% of the votes.
