The Mayor promises that the French will not have to pay more taxes due to the salary rises

French workers who receive salary increases from their employers to deal with inflation won't have to pay more taxes, as Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy, has assured them.

"We are going to index our income tax schedule to inflation in order to avoid those threshold effects where people...tip into income taxes or an additional bracket" due to a rise of salary, stated the number 2 of government on BFM TV/ RMC.

"It is not possible that employees pay more income taxes or fall into income tax scales because of inflation," INSEE measured at over 5% in May.

Common operation is the indexation to inflation on the income tax scale. This will be reflected in the 2023 finance bill, which the government must present at school year's start.

The scale has been updated every year since 1969 to account for inflation, with the exception of 2012 and 2013. Bercy says. The State's financial and fiscal interests are especially important in this year's inflation, which has reached levels not seen in the 1980s.

For a single person, the income tax threshold is currently at 10,225 euros per annum. There are four income tax brackets. Tax rates range from 11% to 45% for those with the lowest incomes.
