Buttes Chaumont is the park for Parisians, where families take their children for a walk, friends have a picnic and athletes go for a run, far from the more touristy parks, such as the Tuileries or the Luxembourg Gardens. One of the few places that still preserve the authentic flavor of the city. It is in this park where the latest chilling event in the country has taken place. The police have found (in two batches, on Monday and Tuesday) the dismembered remains of a woman's body, still unidentified. A macabre find in the heart of Paris.

On Monday several garden maintenance workers found the woman's torso in a garbage bag. This Tuesday they found her head and other remains near some old train tracks, also wrapped. According to sources of the investigation, cited by the BFMTV chain, the victim was wearing blue jeans, although she is awaiting the autopsy and her identity and the circumstances of her death are still unknown.

This family park has been closed to the public since Monday and the residents of the area cannot believe it. This is the latest (not the only) chilling event to take place in the country. In Paris, just a few months ago, the body of a 12-year-old girl, Lola, was found. She was stuffed in a suitcase. There are two suspects, accused of murder, rape with acts of torture and barbarism, and concealment of the body.

It is hard to believe that in a city like Paris, in a country that is the second largest economic power in Europe, crimes of this type are committed, so extremely macabre and in such a short time. Lola's body was found in a plastic suitcase, a few meters from the building where her family lived, with her arms and legs tied and deep wounds in her throat.

Unfortunately, these cases of extreme violence are not exceptions. Every two for three young people disappear, usually women, and it appears after a few days. In recent weeks, for example, two adolescents have been found dead. Héléna, a 21-year-old student who went missing on January 29 in Brest, was found dead a week ago. Her body was burned, in the middle of the forest. The investigation is open.

Almost at the same time, 18-year-old Sihem, who had been sighted in the Gard area and whose lifeless body was found on February 1, was found. There is a man arrested, who has admitted having killed her after a discussion.

At the end of the year another teenage couple disappeared in Deux-Sévres. Nothing is known about them and the investigators do not rule out any option, although flight is the least likely. 70% of the French say that their feeling of insecurity has increased, according to data from an Ifop survey. And no wonder.

The macabre discovery in the Parisian park takes place when the country is traumatized by the case of one of the best-known French humorists, Pierre Palmade. He had an accident last Friday a few kilometers from Paris, he was under the influence of cocaine and he ran into another vehicle and involved a third party. In one of them was a pregnant woman who has lost her baby. There is another very serious child and another injured who has had to be operated several times.

The police are looking for the two occupants of the car that accompanied him, who fled and of whom nothing is yet known. The comedian, who has a long history of addiction, admitted by himself, is accused of involuntary manslaughter and injuries, and could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
