Because a patient in a Mannheim clinic felt disturbed by the noise of the oxygen device from a bed neighbor, she is said to have switched off the machine and thus put the 79-year-old's life in danger. Although the staff pointed out to the 72-year-old woman that the oxygen supply was vital, she is said to have switched off the device again shortly afterwards.
The 79-year-old had to be revived, the police and prosecutors said. Although she is now out of danger, she is still in the intensive care unit, it said.
"It's not common for us either," said a police spokeswoman about the incident on Tuesday evening. It was initially unclear whether the two women knew each other. The 72-year-old has now recovered enough to be taken to prison. She is suspected of attempted murder. On Wednesday she was brought before the magistrate who executed the arrest warrant. She was put in a correctional facility.
