Both pregnant for the fourth time: Twins give birth to sons on the same day

Rare coincidence in Israel: Two pregnant twins each give birth to a son in quick succession. It is already the fourth child for the sisters. Both now have two daughters and two sons.

Identical twin sisters in Jerusalem gave birth to their sons on the same day, according to hospital reports. The two 31-year-olds came to the hospital one after the other, one with a ruptured amniotic sac, the other because she went into labor, the Schaarei Zedek hospital said.

The babies were reportedly born on Tuesday. It was the fourth child for both women, both of whom had already had two daughters and a son. "A birth is a special and exciting event," said Jael Jishai, one of the two women, according to the statement. "I'm happy to share this with a good friend who is also a sister."

The two were given a shared room. They had already had their third children just six weeks apart, said Jishai. Now they could spend their parental leave together again. The senior midwife told Yediot Aharonot newspaper: "In the delivery room we find ourselves in a constant cycle of the formation of life and family. So when two sisters, identical twins, give birth to children, we rejoice doubly with them."
