A train crash in Greece has apparently killed 15 people and injured dozens more. A freight train collided with a passenger train on the route between the capital Athens and the port city of Thessaloniki. The latter derailed, as shown by pictures from the scene of the accident. The accident happened near the city of Larisa in the center of the country.

Local media reports initially spoke of dozens of injuries, and the fire brigade later spoke of 15 deaths. For its part, the state television station Ert reported that a fire broke out in a train car and people were trapped inside. More information will follow.
