Constitutional complaint rejected: "lateral thinking" initiator Ballweg remains in custody

Together with conspiracy ideologists like Ken Jebsen, Michael Ballweg is spreading crude theories about the corona pandemic. He was later accused of fraud and money laundering. His attempt to get out of custody fails - now the only way to go is to go to Strasbourg.

The constitutional complaint by "lateral thinking" initiator Michael Ballweg against his ongoing detention has failed. As a spokesman for the Federal Constitutional Court said, the complaint has not been accepted for decision. This means that the application for an interim order is also irrelevant. The court spokesman could not provide any information on the reasons. Ballweg could now appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

At the beginning of the year, the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court decided that the 48-year-old must remain in custody for a period of six months due to the risk of escaping. He was strongly suspected of attempted commercial fraud and money laundering. The police arrested Ballweg on June 29 last year.

From the point of view of Ballweg's lawyers, the argument is unacceptable. They also complained that judges had broken off detention hearings without Ballweg being able to fully present his point of view. His lawyers had said in January that the constitutional complaint was necessary in order to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in the next step.

Ballweg often appeared at lateral thinking events and criticized the Corona measures. He also appeared together with conspiracy ideologists such as Ken Jebsen, and his performances were attended by anti-Semites and neo-Nazis. He commented approvingly on a Ben Garrison drawing depicting Bill Gates as Adolf Hitler with vaccine syringes in the shape of a swastika. Because of false information about Covid-19, his channel "Quermachen711" was blocked on YouTube in 2021.

The “lateral thinking” movement had formed in many German cities from Stuttgart in the course of the corona pandemic. The supporters repeatedly demonstrated publicly against the political measures to contain the virus. There were also attacks on police officers and media representatives. The Office for the Protection of the Constitution monitors the scene for anti-constitutional views, conspiracy ideologies and anti-Semitic tendencies.
