"Dear neighbors...": Parisian drug dealers post house rules

Drug dealers don't have a reputation for being good neighbors. Curious is the message addressed to the tenants of a house in a Paris suburb. The local dealers politely but firmly ask not to be disturbed while they "work".

Drug dealers have posted their own house rules in a skyscraper in the Paris suburb of Nanterre. "Dear neighbors, as you have noticed, we are back in the high-rise building," says the official-sounding notice on the elevator, as reported by the newspaper "Le Parisien".

This is followed by promises not to leave litter, not to smoke, and not to make too much noise in the common areas. "We are not here to disrupt your everyday life, just to work," says the code of conduct. For the "well-being of everyone" it is not necessary to "yell at the employees" - that means the dealers.

In general, tenants are asked to "follow instructions" and if anyone ever needs help, they're always willing to help. "Best regards, the management" ends the printed house rules, which met with a mixed response from the residents. A tenant considered the notice, which the dealers were quite open about their trade, to be "completely crazy". Another spoke of a provocation, and a third said he laughed when he read the note. "It's not that bad. There's no threat or insult."
