Fire probably extinguished in the meantime: Fire on the Tesla factory site in Grünheide

A fire broke out early in the morning on the premises of the Tesla factory in Grünheide, Brandenburg. The cause is so far unclear, the flames have now been largely extinguished. It is not the first incident at the US automaker.

A fire has broken out on the premises of Tesla's Gigafactory in Grünheide. This is reported by the "Märkische Oderzeitung" (MOZ). The fire brigade of the municipality of Grünheide was called in at around 3.30 a.m. by the Tesla factory fire brigade. There is no information on the cause of the fire so far. 800 cubic meters of paper and wood are said to have burned.

According to information from the Oderland regional office, several fire brigades from the municipality of Grünheide and the turntable ladder from Erkner were used. During the extinguishing, extinguishing foam is said to have been used.

As firefighters told "MOZ", the fire should have been extinguished since 7.45 a.m. But the firefighting continues. There are still slight smoke emissions, it is said.

The fire brigades of the municipality of Grünheide alone were on site with 37 forces. When asked about the fire, Grünheide's fire chief Norman Elsner did not provide any information and instead referred to the Oder-Spree district and the Tesla company.

The fire is not the first incident since the Gigafactory opened at the end of March. In mid-April, 15,000 liters of paint leaked out, which the authorities said was slightly hazardous to water. At the end of August, a container with waste burned on the factory site.
