Held as a slave by IS?: Jesidin recognizes German tormentor in the courtroom

An Iraqi woman has apparently been kept as a slave by members of the terrorist militia IS for a long time. In the trial against a German woman, the victim recognizes her as a tormentor in court. She is said to have prevented her from escaping and condoned her husband's rape and beating of the victim.

In the Koblenz trial of a woman accused of being an IS supporter, her former alleged slave recognized her, according to her own words. "Yes, she's sitting there," said the Jesidin, who had come from her Iraqi homeland, as a witness before the Higher Regional Court (OLG), according to an interpreter. The accused's Syrian husband told her, the witness, in Mosul: "You are a gift for me." It had previously been passed on to each other several times by other men from the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia. The key witness is also a joint plaintiff in the trial before a state security senate of the OLG.

According to the interpreter, she went on to say that the German defendant once told her in Mosul that she did not want to give birth to her children in Germany so that they would not have to grow up among "infidels". There were weapons in the family's bedroom in Mosul. The accused's husband, a doctor, always took a gun with him when he was not at home. The Jesidin needed a break several times during her testimony in court. The accused partly wrote down their words - and cried at times.

The federal prosecutor accuses her of having been an IS member. The 37-year-old is charged with crimes against humanity, aiding and abetting genocide and war crimes, among other things. She had once lived in Idar-Oberstein. According to the OLG, she has not yet commented on the allegations. According to the indictment, the German traveled from Germany to Syria with her Syrian husband in 2014 to join IS, and in 2015 the couple moved to Mosul in Iraq. According to the federal prosecutor, the accused took care of their two small daughters and the household. The couple are said to have stored explosives, hand grenades and Kalashnikovs at home.

In 2016, the husband is said to have brought the Jesidin into the house as a slave. According to the indictment, she had to cook, clean and take care of the children. With the knowledge of his wife, the man is said to have regularly raped and beaten the Jesidin. The accused is said to have monitored that the young slave could not escape.
