Man steals bottle from the bar: Disco visitors accidentally drink cleaning agents

Theft is not a trivial offense - and, as in the case of a disco visitor in Erfurt, can even be a health hazard: the young man steals a bottle from the counter, drinks it and passes it on. But instead of alcohol, there is cleaning agent in it.

Drinks in the disco are not exactly cheap. To save money, a 25-year-old stole a bottle from the counter in a club in Erfurt. Believing it was herbal liqueur, the young man took a strong sip, according to the Erfurt police. The bottle circulated on the dance floor, causing another four people to drink from it. In fact, it wasn't alcohol, it was detergent.

The result: All five men aged 19 to 25 suffered chemical burns in their mouth and throat. Several ambulances had to be deployed during the night to treat the injured.

The stolen bottle is said to have resembled an alcohol bottle, but was provided with a warning, reports the MDR. The men must have overlooked this. The 25-year-old, who stole the bottle, is now being investigated for theft and negligent bodily harm.
