"Nations inspired by him": Zelenskyj is one of the 100 most influential people

Time magazine publishes its list of the most influential people in the world. For the first time, the Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is also standing on it. The accompanying foreword was written by none other than US President Biden. But Putin is also found in the "leader" category.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made Time magazine's list of the "100 Most Influential People". The 44-year-old politician-turned-face of Ukraine's resistance to Russian inversion is listed for the first time in 2022. US President Joe Biden wrote the accompanying essay. "In President Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian people have a leader worthy of their bravery and resilience," it said. "The nations of the free world, inspired by the example of President Zelensky, are more united, determined and purposeful than at any time in our recent history."

In addition to Zelenskyy and Biden, the "Leaders" category also includes Russian President Vladimir Putin, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Chinese Prime Minister Xi Jinping, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The editor-in-chief and CEO of "Time" magazine explains the fact that both Zelenskyy and Putin appear on the list as follows: "They are the poles of this list and of this moment. (...) Of course, influence can be for better or for worse - a dichotomy that has never been clearer than in this year's list."

In addition to "Leaders", there are also the categories "Pioneers", "Artists", "Titans", "Icons" and "Innovators". The "artists" include actors Simu Liu, Andrew Garfield, Amanda Seyfried and Sarah Jessica Parker, among others. Apple CEO Tim Cook, talk show legend Oprah Winfrey and entrepreneur Kris Jenner made it into the "Titans" category.

The "icons" include action actor Keanu Reeves, tennis pro Rafael Nadal and singer Adele. Actress Zendaya and director Taika Waititi were named "innovators", while basketball player Candace Parker and economist Emily Oster were "pioneers".
