Nationwide warning day 2022: Authorities are testing the disaster

With an alarm signal on all mobile phones and the note "Emergency alarm", Germany is rehearsing the emergency in the morning. Unlike two years ago, the test is largely successful. There is no danger to the population.

A little more than two years after the failure of the first nationwide warning day, a new test for the alarm structures in Germany has been carried out. As a test, the authorities nationwide triggered the warning systems provided for the event of a disaster. Among other things, people received warning SMS, messages via warning apps or could hear announcements on radio and television. The official warnings should also be visible on billboards in the cityscape.

The warning day is intended to subject the technical and organizational processes to an endurance test and at the same time to sensitize people to the topic. The nationwide first warning day in September 2020 had gone badly wrong: the central nationwide trial warning from the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance was delayed by 30 minutes.
