On the run for the second time: Rocker escapes from prison in Euskirchen

According to a media report, an ex-Bandidos boss went into hiding shortly before he went to prison. In the end, he ended up in prison for violating the gun law. After a good year in prison, the 35-year-old escaped again.

A member of a biker group escaped from the open prison in Euskirchen. The 35-year-old has been in prison since November 2021 for violating the Weapons Act, a press spokesman for the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Justice said.

First he was in the closed prison in Remscheid and Rheinbach. In preparation for his release in June, he was then transferred to Euskirchen. According to the Justice Department, the 35-year-old fled on January 16.

The spokesman did not give any further details. The "Bild" newspaper reports that the prisoner is a former boss of the criminal rocker group Bandidos. He was convicted after a shooting with a Hells Angels rival. He also went into hiding in Spain shortly before he entered prison in 2021. According to the report, the man is said to have disappeared during a yard walk. According to information from "Bild", he is again in Spain.

"Here we are in an open prison, there are no large escape prevention devices like in the closed prison," said the director of the correctional facility, Jennifer Rybarczyk, the newspaper. "He just took advantage of that, which came as a surprise to us because up to that point he had been completely inconspicuous."
