A suspicious car at Signal-Iduna-Park caused a lot of excitement during the Bundesliga game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen (1-0). On Saturday at around 6.40 p.m. the police noticed a vehicle with the engine running in a nearby parking lot. According to a statement from the authorities late in the evening, “two empty holsters for firearms” were found in the interior.
The officials later said: "As part of the further check, the owner, who was also the driver of the vehicle, was identified and found in the stadium. He was taken into custody and questioned about his vehicle. All dangers could be eliminated in this context will." The owner is the holder of "a small gun license".
The all-clear for the visitors came 23 minutes after the final whistle. The police assured: "According to the current status of the investigation, there was never any danger from either the vehicle or the owner." A tweet also said: "As part of the police investigation, we were able to clarify that the vehicle posed no danger. The engine was running due to a technical defect. Thank you for your careful behavior and understanding."
