Since yesterday, the Leipzig police have been looking for a baby who disappeared in a shopping center along with a pram. The custodians say they gave the child into the care of a woman for a short period of time. But she didn't bring the baby back.
A baby and its stroller disappeared in a Leipzig shopping center on Thursday evening. The boy is one month old. "The child was not torn away," said a police spokeswoman about the circumstances of the disappearance. The spokeswoman told ntv.de that the guardians had stated that they had given the baby to a woman for a short time to take care of the child. Later, the woman and baby could no longer be found at the agreed meeting point.
The woman is also not a stranger to the family. For tactical reasons, however, no further information was given about the woman. Not even about the relationship between the woman and the boy's family. According to the police, there were no family disputes or custody conflicts.
The police have not yet spoken of a kidnapping, said the spokeswoman. Rather, the investigators assumed that the criminal offense was the confiscation of minors. When asked if the little boy was in danger, she said it was unpredictable.
The baby has been wanted since 5 p.m. on Thursday – the police also use dogs. With the start of commuter traffic, the measures would be intensified again. "We are following any leads," the spokeswoman said. The police told ntv.de that they were planning a public search with photos.
The spokesman said that many colleagues from a wide variety of areas were already involved in the search during the night. A dog unit was also deployed. In addition, the rescue control center, the transport companies and taxi companies were informed. Video recordings from trams would also be checked. The shopping center is located in the Gohlis district of Leipzig on Georg-Schumann-Strasse.
