Shots are fired in a Copenhagen shopping center in the evening, according to the latest police information, three people died in the incident. Shortly after the bloody crime, there is an arrest: the suspect is a 22-year-old Dane.

Three people were shot dead in the bloody crime in a shopping center in Copenhagen. Three other people were seriously injured and in critical condition, police chief inspector Søren Thomassen said on Monday night in the Danish capital, according to the newspaper "Jyllands-Posten". Until then, the police had spoken of several deaths, but not quantified the exact number.

Shortly after the incident on Sunday, the police reported an arrest. The man is a 22-year-old Dane, said Thomassen. It is too early to say anything about the motive. It is still unclear whether the alleged perpetrator had accomplices. Presumably he acted alone. The previous information is associated with uncertainty, it is a kind of chaos phase. The police were alerted at around 5:30 p.m. and are still on the scene with strong forces. Thomassen could not initially rule out a terrorist act.

Copenhagen Mayor Sophie H. Andersen tweeted that it was "terrible". "We don't yet know exactly how many people are injured or dead, but it's very serious." The city is in close contact with the police and is ready to help.

An eyewitness told broadcaster DR that he heard three or four very loud bangs while he was in a store with his family. Then other people ran into the store and reported shots, after which he and his family fled through an emergency exit, the man said.

Witnesses also told the newspaper "Jyllands-Posten" that they had heard shots. "You didn't know what was happening. Suddenly chaos broke out everywhere," 20-year-old Emilie Jeppesen told the newspaper. Her friend Astrid Kofoed Jørgensen said: "Everyone in the restaurant was sent to the kitchen, then we sat there and we could hear three or four shots."

The shopping center is the shopping mall "Field's". This is located in the Amager district between the city center and the airport. The large multi-purpose hall Royal Arena is also nearby. In the evening there should be a concert by the musician Harry Styles. At first it was said that it would not be canceled. According to the media, several thousand fans were also allowed into the hall. There, however, the visitors were then informed that the concert was canceled for security reasons. The fans were asked to leave the hall calmly.
