Telecinco Jorge Javier Vázquez, temporary leave from Mediaset due to medical prescription

Last Thursday the alarms went off in Mediaset and among the spectators: Jorge Javier Vázquez was not at the gala every Thursday of Survivors. Carlos Sobera tried to silence rumors as soon as the program started: "I know what they are thinking, 'you have to see what Jorge Javier Vázquez has messed up' -humor always appeases-. That you know that Jorge Javier is indisposed, but nothing happens He is already calm, relaxed and recovered and next Thursday he will come. Today you have to put up with me, it is what it is".

The "disappearance" of the presenter of the Survivors gala, although Sobera reported that it was for health reasons, was quickly linked to the avalanche of information that had been published about the termination of Jorge Javier Vázquez's contract.

However, as reported by Mediaset in a brief statement, Jorge Javier Vázquez "temporarily leaves due to medical prescription." Mediaset has not informed the time in which the presenter will be on leave nor, obviously, for reasons of confidentiality, the cause of it.

Since the final cancellation of Sálvame was announced on May 5, information about the future of the program, the collaborators and Jorge Javier Vázquez have been a constant, most of them denied by Mediaset. But last Thursday the alarms went off when various reports suggested that Mediaset intended to liquidate the contract that the presenter has with the group until 2025.

That Jorge Javier Vázquez did not present the Survivors gala that same day further increased speculation. In addition, throughout this week Jorge Javier Vázquez has not been present in any of the Sálvame programs and last Friday, even having as a guest Ginés, the king of sandwiches, a contestant on Survivors, and his controversial girlfriend, Yaiza, the presenter could not be either.

But it has not been until today when Mediaset officially pronounced announcing the presenter's medical leave and wishing "his speedy recovery". And all in the midst of pressure from the followers of both Jorge Javier Vázquez and Sálvame for the upcoming closure of the program.

Jorge Javier Vázquez suffered a stroke in March 2019 that kept him away from the cameras for several weeks. In his last book Before Oblivion, the presenter recounted what that health problem meant for him. It was in a Deluxe where Jorge Javier related how it happened.

The presenter explained that it was night and that he was enjoying a party in a nightclub in Marrakech in the company of some friends. There he began to feel that something was not right and decided to go out and get some fresh air. Helped by his friends, Jorge Javier Vázquez managed to get out of the nightclub and immediately lost consciousness for three or four minutes.

Upon coming to, the presenter Jorge Javier decided to go back into the disco: "I thought it was dizzy because I was drunk, I didn't think I was having a stroke," he said. When he returned to Madrid he returned with severe headaches and ended up going to the doctor where he had an emergency operation after several hospitalizations.

Jorge Javier also suffers from sleep apnea in a "severe" state, for which he has to sleep connected to an oxygen "machine" (CPAP), as he recently revealed on his Lecturas blog.
