Television The funny monologue of Ana de Armas on Saturday Night Live

Ana de Armas was on Saturday Night Live in its delivery broadcast on Saturday, April 15. The actress took charge of the veteran NBC format, which started with a fun monologue in which she related an anecdote that she lived with Robert De Niro.

The Spanish-Cuban began in Spanish: "Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. I've had an amazing year and I'm very happy to be here hosting tonight's show." She then switched languages, noting: "I speak English, but I didn't when I came to the United States."

The interpreter indicated that she was born in Cuba and that she had moved when she was 26 years old: "I learned English like everyone who comes to this country, watching Friends. Who would have thought that the best teacher would be Chandler Bing?"

"Acting here was difficult at first because I didn't always understand what I was saying," he confessed. Later she remembered how her first classes were and how difficult it was for him to understand some expressions.

The star shared: "This has been a magical year. Not only was I nominated for an Oscar, but in three weeks I will officially become an American citizen. I'm proud because when I moved here everyone was so welcoming."

Ana de Armas mentioned Manos de Piedra, the first film she recorded in the United States and in which she coincided with Robert De Niro. "One day on set she said to me: 'I might go to Cuba soon. If I go, I'll say hello to your family,'" she said.

The interpreter pointed out that the actor even asked her for the contact details of her parents, but she forgot about it. Some time later, she received a call from her parent, who told her, "Robert De Niro just came to visit me at work."

The actress continued, "That was a very kind gesture. I have been very lucky to work with so many actors who have supported me. My father was very proud of me and you would be seeing him on this stage today. I am very lucky to be here. I remember the first time my name was on the crossword puzzle in The New York Times. Everyone wrote me and said 'you did it.'"

Ana de Armas is the protagonist of Ghosted, which will be titled Ghosting in Spain and will premiere on Apple TV on Friday, April 21. The actress once again coincides with Chris Evans, with whom she had already worked on Daggers in the Back, in this action-packed romantic comedy.
