“The cow just shits”: Aiwanger rumbles – cow pats are on me

In Pühl in Upper Bavaria, residents complain about cow dung. The mayor says it was no longer possible to cross the street without contact with the patties. Economics Minister Aiwanger stands with his legs apart next to the scolded farmer - and announces a site visit.

Bavaria's Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger wants to pay the fine against the farmer in the cowpat dispute if necessary. "I just can't fly the cows to the pasture with a helicopter and I can't put diapers on them either. That's what happens when the cow shits on the street," said the minister to the "Bayerisches Landwirtschaftswochenblatt".

In Pähl in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau, the cow dung density on the street was so great that a resident complained to the authorities. Now the farmer should pay a fine of 100 euros plus fees.

He will pay the fine for the farmer if he has to pay the amount, Aiwanger said. He announced that he would get a picture on the spot. "I'll come by personally and pay the fine for the farmer." He criticized: "In times when people stick to the street and don't have to pay a fine for it, it's significant if you have to pay a fine when a cow shits on the street."

There must be an understanding that cows produce legacies on the way to pasture, he said. Otherwise, this also means the end of the grazing farms and grazing. "Such pollution is unavoidable. If fines are to be expected, then these cows no longer march to the pasture, but straight to the butcher." Of course, the farmer must do everything possible to remove the dirt quickly.

Pähl's Mayor Werner Grünbauer, himself a farmer, had said that by no means every dirt on the road would lead to a decision. Here, however, the resident "wouldn't have gotten out of the street without stepping in the shit." The measure had clearly been exceeded here. In addition, the district office, to which the resident had complained, called for action.
