The weather week in a quick check: storm "Thorvi" brings the rainy autumn

Instead of a warm Indian summer, autumn storms into the country with showers and cold. A slight relaxation with temperatures up to 17 degrees is in sight on Thursday. But the weekend hardly holds any chances for the golden October, reveals weather expert Björn Alexander.

A rather uncomfortable weather week is coming up. Because instead of a new high, it continues with low pressure influence. Repeated showers pass through, which can temporarily turn into snow in the higher mountains. In addition, the wind whistles at times lively to stormy.

Storm "Thorvi" is responsible, among other things, for turbulent times over the Atlantic. Coast of Norway and northern British Isles with gusts at or above 100 km/h. East Iceland and the open Atlantic get peak gusts of up to 150 km/h. Incidentally, the tropical storms are currently getting down to business even more violently.

Severe storms worldwide

After a fairly quiet Atlantic hurricane season 2022 so far, the storms are now taking over: "Fiona" crosses Newfoundland as a storm depression and "Gaston" affects the western Azores as a tropical storm depression with lots of rain.

"Hermine" turns only as a tropical low south of the Canary Islands, but brings the Canary Islands heavy rainfall with 75 to 150, in the mountains up to 250 liters per square meter. There is a risk of flooding and landslides!

"Ian" is still a tropical storm 600 kilometers south of the Cayman Islands, but it has enormous potential for danger. It is fueling up powerfully over the Caribbean and at the beginning of the week it reaches the extreme west of Cuba as a very dangerous major hurricane (at least level 3 of 5). He then moves on to Florida, where he should go ashore on Friday.

But it's not just bubbling over the Atlantic. With "Noru" a super typhoon has formed. With peak winds of over 250 km/h and torrential rain, it sweeps across the north of the Philippines and reaches with its foothills as far as the capital Manila. Moved, but of course much less intense, things are going on in this country. Here the details.

Monday: More rain in the west

The week starts with variable showers. It is friendliest from Berlin to Saxony. In the northwest and west, meanwhile, longer-lasting rain sets in. With strong, stormy south-westerly winds on the North Sea in gusts, we get between 12 and 17 degrees.

Tuesday: Snow on the mountains in the south

It is cloudy and wet in most places. You can look forward to longer blue gaps in the Alps and on the Oder. In addition, it will be significantly cooler at 8 to 14 degrees, so that the snow line in the south will drop to 1300 to 1500 meters.

Wednesday: Full autumn says hello

It often goes on uncomfortably. Only over the middle there will be some sun between the showers. Otherwise it is very cloudy and rain falls frequently. Here it is autumnally cool and windy at 9 to 14 degrees. Snow falls in the Alps above about 1500 meters.

Thursday: Weather improvement as a flash in the pan

A slight improvement in the weather is in sight. Because even if there should still be some downpours, the sun will have more shares overall. In addition, it will be a little milder at 12 to 17 degrees. Actually a hopeful development for the long weekend - but unfortunately the current trends and forecasts of the weather computers do not play along.

Friday and weekends: Golden because of - October brings wind and rain

The long weekend looked so good recently on the weather computers. But when you look at the current calculations, the golden October unfortunately has hardly any chances worth mentioning. After an initially only slightly changeable Friday, plenty of rain is expected to arrive in the west on Saturday night, which will spread eastward during the day. At the same time, the wind picks up at times strong to stormy. And also on Sunday and on the public holiday we can often expect windy, showery weather, which can be accompanied by thunderstorms in places. The temperatures are relatively constant at mostly 12 to 17 degrees.
