Traci Braxton, a singer, actor and reality television personality, has passed away at the age of 50.

Braxton, according to her family had been fighting cancer in her esophagus.

"We have reached a point where we must inform you that our beloved Traci Braxton, after a year of private treatment for Esophageal Cancer, has gone on to glory," Kevin Surratt, her husband, stated in a statement to NBC News.

Tomasina Perkins Washington, Braxton's publicist, said that Braxton's mother, sisters, and friends were there to support her when she died.

Perkins-Washington also said that she spent her final year in hospice.

Kevin Surratt Jr. said, "When I heard about my mother's illness, the first thing she said to me was that I'm going fight and beat it." In an Instagram posting Saturday, Kevin Surratt Jr. "She fought until the end, and today she is at peace."

According to her website, Braxton was an entertainer and performer as well as a performer. She supported charities and non-profit organizations that helped women and children with health issues and other societal problems.
