Two defendants confess: "Nursery Dealer" process picks up speed

Maximilian S. gained international fame as a "children's room dealer". Even a Netflix series tells his bizarre story. After the 27-year-old has served his first prison sentence, he is back in court with four other men. Two of the accused are now unpacking.

In the trial against Maximilian S. from Leipzig, who became known as a "nursery dealer", and four co-defendants, two of the men made a confession. The public prosecutor had accused both of helping to run an online shop through which, among other things, 16.5 kilograms of amphetamine and 2.5 kilograms of hashish were said to have been sold from April 2019. Before the Leipzig district court, both men admitted that they had helped with the portioning and packaging of the narcotics. In return, they received 1,500 euros a month in cash, and their rent was also taken over.

One of the two men said he knew the co-defendant, who is accused of being responsible for the logistics of the online trade. They met while playing sports, the defendant's defense attorney explained in court. Through him, his client also got to know the defendant, who became known as the "nursery dealer".

The defendant's statement said that orders for the shop had been placed using his name and address. Although he tolerated this, he did not initiate the orders himself. According to both confessions, the alleged accomplices were given laptops to process the orders. The other alleged helper said that after packing the drug orders, he put stamps on them and put them in different mailboxes. According to the prosecutor's office, more than 400 letters are said to have been sent.

The five men, aged between 24 and 42, are accused of being involved to varying degrees in the drug business via the freely accessible web shop. Maximilian S., the 27-year-old from Leipzig who became known as the "children's room dealer", is said to have acted as the head of the group.

He had already been sentenced to seven years in prison in 2015 because he had set up a similar drug shop at the time. At the time, he admitted to having sold almost a ton of drugs procured via the dark web. He packed and shipped the goods from his childhood room in Leipzig. His story was the template for a film project by the streaming provider Netflix: the series "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)", which now has three seasons.
