Wanted to speak to Macron: job seeker invades Élyséepalast

After a written application, a man wants to introduce himself personally to President Macron in September. The Master's graduate was able to enter the French official residence unhindered. He is only stopped in the lobby.

A young man looking for a job broke into President Emmanuel Macron's Élysée Palace in Paris unhindered and was only asked about his concerns in the vestibule. Neither the police outside nor the Republican Guard in the palace had stopped the man at the end of September, the disclosure sheet "Le Canard Enchaîné" reported. The man benefited from a changing of the guard to gain unhindered access to the President's official residence, who was chairing a National Security Council meeting at the time.

The intruder, who appeared to be up to no harm, was later questioned at a police station. The 27-year-old graduate of a master's degree had traveled from Lyon to apply for a job as a lawyer or manager at the Élysée Palace, the broadcaster BFMTV reported. After a written application, he wanted to audition in person. "I wasn't aware that I was making myself punishable." When he saw that the main entrance was locked, he discovered the side entrance through which several people who he had joined were going.

In the lobby he encountered two chefs and members of the Republican Guard. "I want to meet the President, it's about a job," he said. Prosecutors have since dropped the investigation into the intruder, who specifically apologized to security guards, BFMTV reported. When asked, the Élysée Palace initially did not comment on the incident - nor on the question of what became of the man's application.
