In a traffic accident in the Ore Mountains with three cars and a subsequent tank explosion, nine people were injured on Saturday evening - four of them seriously. According to the police, a 35-year-old in Lauter-Bernsbach drove his car in a one-way street against the direction of travel and collided with another car at an intersection. The violent impact threw him into another car.

One of the drivers was able to get out of his car on his own and then noticed that operating fluids were leaking from his liquid gas tank and the fuel tank. When another car drove past, there was a deflagration, after which both tanks exploded. Adjacent house facades and a fourth vehicle were damaged by flying vehicle parts and the car, which was immediately engulfed in fire. Eight people in the vehicles and a first responder were injured. The resulting total property damage was estimated at around 100,000 euros.
