In the Mexican town of Apaseo el Alto has been taken, José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias "El Marro", the head of the powerful criminal cartel Santa Rosa de Lima festival. "I would like to inform you that today Morning in a joint Operation by state and Federal armed forces, the main leader of a criminal group that operates in the Region Laja-Bajio in the state of Guanajuato, was arrested," wrote the Governor of the state of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, on Twitter on Sunday.
In a statement, the Prosecutor's office said that five others were also arrested, an Arsenal and a kidnapped businesswoman from Apaseo el Alto, the site of the arrest, liberated. "El Marro" will be put in the high security prison "El Altiplano," wrote Mexico's security Minister Alfonso Durazo on Twitter. He will be brought before a Federal judge who had issued the warrant for organized crime, and petrol theft.
The state of Guanajuato is one of the most dangerous in Mexico. The active cartel Santa Rosa de Lima is involved mainly in petrol theft and most recently a wave of violence responsible. The group of Yépez Ortiz is fighting with a particularly violent criminal syndicate Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) to the territory.
