Better late than never: the official app for a 9-euro ticket is here

The day after tomorrow you can explore the area cheaply with the 9-euro ticket. For a whole three months. Now the official app for Android and iPhone can also be used to purchase the monthly ticket.

The Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) now has its own sales app for the so-called 9-euro monthly ticket. Interested parties can buy tickets for June, July and August there since this Monday, as the association announced. "This means that new customers in particular now have the opportunity to purchase the 9-euro ticket via app in whose home region the ticket has not yet been offered via app or other digital means," it said.

The app is called "9-Euro-Ticket" and can be found on the usual platforms. The ticket can then be paid for by SEPA direct debit directly from the bank account or by credit card. A PayPal connection does not exist. With the launch of the app, however, the VDV is comparatively late. Deutsche Bahn, transport associations and companies started selling tickets last Monday or even earlier.

And the demand is great. For local transport alone, Deutsche Bahn has sold 2.7 million units to date. With the discounted monthly ticket for 9 euros, local public transport can be used. It is valid until August 31 for buses, S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains and trams. But regional trains can also be used with it, nationwide. Because the ticket is not limited to a specific transport association and can be used for three months for a total of 27 euros. But be careful, so far it has been the case that not all regional trains can be used cheaply with the ticket. You can read all the detailed information on the subject here.

The campaign aims to relieve commuters in the face of high energy prices and win new customers for buses and trains. Promotional tickets are available from all local transport companies. Because the ticket is not limited to a specific transport association and can be used for three months for a total of 27 euros. It expires at the end of each month. From September 1st, the regular tariffs, which are much higher, will apply everywhere.

But if you already have a job ticket, for example, the difference of nine euros and the sum X will be automatically refunded by your transport company. All the benefits of the subscription are retained.
